There’s been a lot of research on social media use and teens, but there’s still so much that we don’t understand. A recent study found a link between heavy tech use and ADHD symptoms among teens. Researchers at USC tracked 2,500 10th graders and found that those most addicted to social media sites were 53 percent more likely to develop ADHD symptoms. The American Psychiatric Association estimates 5% of all children have ADHD. While it can be difficult as parents to know when tech use is too much, these researchers emphasized the importance of talking with your teens about digital media use, and keeping that dialogue open.
